Everyone has ideas, everyone has had a million-dollar idea sometime in their lives. The difference between a figment of your imagination (an idea) and something real in action.
Now let ask you this; Is there any idea that is bad?
Think for a second before answering. The answer is no. People may be surprised by this but there is technically no bad idea. There are factors you should consider when you have an idea. The idea is based on the market, if there is no market for your idea then the idea cannot scale and you should either tweak the idea or come up with an entirely different one. Let me give you an instance. Let’s say in my country Nigeria, I want to sell air, yes air; the air you breathe to my fellow Nigerians, that will be not just a bad idea but a terrible one. Nigerians will not buy air from you SIMPLE. Let us see it in another light. What if the air was unbreathable in Nigeria, the air is so polluted that breathing it for too long can lead to death. Now selling good air becomes a good idea, an excellent sellable one at that and Nigerians will definitely buy because then there is a purpose of need. No one wants to die.
Let us take a company who are already into the selling air business, Yes, there is a company that sells air to the Chinese called Vitality Air and is making big bucks. We can see that no idea is a bad one, it just depends on the needs, time and market. What will not work in one location does not necessarily mean it will not work in the next location. When you think of an idea think like your customer, create surveys and see what your potential customers think of the idea. Don’t think of the product first and how to design the product think of the customer first and design the product to suit the customer needs. That is how to take something from the idea stage to the actual implementation. Remember the customer is always right.
