Achieving Impossible Goals

Impossible goals can be moonshots (a cat saying it wants to be a tiger), or impossible to achieve in a certain time frame, a tortoise deciding to win a race against a hare. We know what happened with the tortoise and the hare though.
There are many ways to achieve impossible goals, you could just pray for a miracle. If you are not in the business of prayer though, here is what we can do.
Productivity Vs Efficiency
Most people try to be productive, we accept that the tempo (pace of play) is the tempo, we get a certain amount of work done every day. To get more work done, we need more days.
Right? Wrong
You can get more work done by increasing your efficiency. This is you doing more with the time you have, there are situations where you can get 10X more done you normally do.
This is called being in a state of flow, where your work is effortless and you are fully present and focused. More on flow state in time.
Efficiency can be incremental or be a leap if you just are 3 percent efficient every day (which is very poor), the power of compounding will have you up 2.5 times more efficient in 10 years. However true efficiency can let you be 3 X efficient immediately.
You must be ruthlessly efficient. Without ruthlessness, you can’t be efficient, most times you are your own worst enemy, your phone, drop-ins, lack of focus, you have to eliminate distractions and do focused work.
Work Cycles
Work Cycles are a good way to get focused work done, 20 minutes blocks of times, no electronic or in person distractions, no standing up, simply sitting and doing the work. This can be charted and you can compare your efficiency doing work cycles with your efficiency not using work cycles.
Be Present
Be focused at the task at hand, being present, neither worrying about past performance or anxious about the future, focusing on the here and now will drive core efficiency. A few other things that need to be done, automate manual processes that are repetitive, either using off the shelf or custom tools, also look to automate one off long lead time tasks.
Fire inefficient people. You may not want to hear this, but you are only as strong as your weakest link if you do not want to fire them, move them to a position that is a better fit. And if you are your weakest link, fire yourself.
